Textiles - Creating Zip and Buttonholes

This sewing course is suitable for those who have attended one of our basic sewing skills classes who want to learn more about when, where and how to create the perfect zip, or button closure for garments and soft furnishings. Basic knowledge of a sewing machine would be useful but not essesntial. , This course is suitable for anyone who has bought a sewing machine and wishes to develop their full potential when using it. It would benefit the students to bring their own machine ( and instruction book) but there are machines available at the centre for students to use if needed., , It is important to note that Craft courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity. , , If you need to bring a carer with you, or be accompanied by another person, please ask to speak with the Programme Manager before you enrol.

Entry requirements

A variety of different weight woven fabrics. A selection of zips to include at least 2 nylon teeth dress zips, a concealed zip and a jeans zip and a selection of buttons. A basic sewing kit and a selection of machine and hand needles, threads etc., We suggest you bring your own machine if possible and remember to bring the zipper foot for it!
