Textiles - Get to Know your Sewing Machine

This is a comprehensive structured course to develop your sewing machine skills as well as increasing awareness of the full potential of your sewing machine. , , A range of stitches, threads, needles, fabrics and basic attachments will be shown to the students as they use your machine to make a variety of samples and learn new techniques. These skills can then can be used on a variety of sewing courses including Learn to Sew, Soft or Home Furnishings and the C and G Textiles courses. This course is suitable for anyone who has bought a sewing machine and wishes to develop their full potential when using it. It would benefit the students to bring their own machine ( and instruction book) but there are machines available at the centre for students to use if needed., , It is important to note that Craft courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity. , , If you need to bring a carer with you, or be accompanied by another person, please ask to speak with the Programme Manager before you enrol.

Entry requirements

Please bring a basic sewing kit ( pins, thread, scissors, tape measure etc) as well as notebook and pencil. If possible please bring your sewing machine ( and instruction book) but there will be machines at the centre for you to use if this is not convenient. Basic cotton fabric will be avaliable on the day to use provided by the tutor.
