Sewing Bee - Make your own Clothes

Learn to make clothes from a paper pattern. A wide variety of sewing and dressmaking skills will be studied. Instruction will be given on using sewing machines and adapting patterns. , Students will set personal outcomes according to the projects they chose., , By the end of the course most students should be able to :-, -Thread and use a variety of stitches on a sewing machine., -Make and press an open seam and dart., -Demonstrate how to insert a zip., -Sew on a waistband., -Show awareness of and work to relevant health and safety guidelines., Those who are interested in making clothes and have attended the absolute beginners course, a previous beginners course or have some previous experience and are able to use a sewing machine and make a basic seam.

Entry requirements

You will need:, -A pen, pencil and notebook, -A basic sewing kit, -Scissors, pins and a tape measure, -You may wish to bring your own sewing machine, -Any patterns you may have already, , Please do not buy any fabric, pattern, interfacings, thread buttons, zips etc. before you have spoken to your tutor during the first session unless you are confident to do so., For safety, only closed toes shoes should be worn.
