Sewing Bee - Make your own Clothes - Improvers

Make your own A line skirt to start to use basic sewing and dressmaking skills. You will learn how to use a pattern to cut out and complete your project. , By the end of the course you will be able to -, Work to relevant health and safety guidelines, Identify pattern markings and use these to cut out your fabric correctly, Demonstrate how to take measurements from the body for dressmaking, Make an open seam, , , Anyone interested in sewing their own clothes, from absolute beginners to those who have some sewing experience but have not used a pattern before.

Entry requirements

Please bring any sewing equipment you already have such as scissors, pins, flexible tape measures. we have plenty or skirt patterns for you to use but you may bring your own if you prefer. , You will need 1.5 - 2 meters of lightweight fabric (up to size 12, 1.5m should be enough), a 25cm (10) zip and a reel of thread that matches the main colour of your fabric. Try to avoid patterns that will need matching such as stripes and tartan., If you have your own sewing machine please bring it with you, but we have plenty of machines you can use if you don't.
