This course will build on the practical skills and knowledge gained on the Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills course. The course will cover the professional framework, the counselling relationship, understanding diversity, the use of supervision, client/counsellor contracts and the development of personal awareness and understanding of the counselling process., , , , Successful completion of the course will mean that you will be able to:, , Understand and use the main theoretical approaches to counselling during practice., , State the ethical, legal and procedural framework in which a counselling agency operates within assessments and during practice., , Demonstrate and understand the nature and constraints of the counsellor's role within different settings., , Describe and demonstrate during practice how difference and diversity can affect counselling relationships., , , , Assessment will be by learning statement/journal and the observation of practical skills demonstrated during the course. There is also a 90 minute external exam set by CPCAB which is taken at the end of the course. For applicants who want to take the next step in training to become a counsellor. You will learn more about counselling theory and agency work. You will need to have successfully completed the CPCAB's Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills or equivalent units/qualifications of at least 75 guided learning hours.
