Massage ITEC Level 3 Diploma

Students will learn classical massage movements to treat the whole body. In order to achieve this, students will be taught anatomy and physiology in order to gain a complete knowledge of the structure and functions of each area. The course will also cover Health, Safety and Hygiene as well as the Principles and Practice of Complementary Therapists. There will be regular homework of at least eight hours per week which will include written work, background reading and home study/revision. Students will also be expected to practise their massage skills at home as well as giving and receiving massage treatments during class. There will be regular tests to assess progress in all areas. Regular attendance is extremely important. , , By the end of the course students should be able to:, , • Explain the structure and function of the ten systems of the body in relation to holistic massage., • Perform holistic body massages demonstrating effective hygiene practices and client care., • Perform and evidence 20 treatments and 16 case studies on clients., • Identify the origins and evaluate techniques used by complementary therapists., • Prepare a business plan in relation to the role of the complementary therapist., , An information booklet is available from centres which gives further details of the course., , Those wishing to pursue a career in holistic therapies or for personal development but please be aware that the emphasis is on becoming a practitioner. PLEASE NOTE THE COURSE IS NOT SUITABLE FOR PREGNANT STUDENTS.

Entry requirements

There is a salon dress code which consists of a white/black top and black trousers/skirt, appropriate shoes (no clogs) which must be worn at all times. A uniform can be assembled for £25-£65. You will need notepad, paper and folders. You will be expected to purchase recommended text books, towels, oils and couch covers at the start of the course . A couch approximately £120) will be needed at home. All the above will be discussed in detail and a full equipment list will be provided on the first day of the course. Please do not buy anything until after the first session.
