Drawing and Painting

This Art course provides a holistic overview of art and painting with the ethos to encourage independant thinking to enable students to study art at a higher leve.l Subjects included will be still life, figurative and landscape, weather permitting. Gallery visits are also possible and where relevant to the subject of study. The use of a sketchbook will be encouraged along with the students choice of medium. By the end of the course you will be able to:, Complete a series of drawings and paintings from suggested topics, Analyse the process of developing your individual pathway towards a finished piece, Develop a series of personal pieces of work from observation, Be aware of and work to relevant Health and Safety guidelines, Anyone wishing to develop their drawing and painting skills. It is important to note that Art courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity. If you need to bring a carer with you, or be accompanied by another person, please ask to speak to the Programme Manager before you enrol.

Entry requirements

If you are a new student and have no materials please wait for your tutor's advice on what to buy. However, you should bring an A4 sketchbook of good quality cartridge paper, preferably with a hard cover and ring bound and a variety of pencils.You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. If you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate please bring them with you.
