There is more to the world of wine than is offered in the supermarkets. With a little knowledge you can enjoy some of the more interesting wines on offer. This course will take you off the well-beaten wine tracks and will introduce you to lesser known grape varieties and some up and coming wine regions from across the world. The course will begin with an introduction or refresh of the systematic approach to tasting wine. You will learn how to select wines that represent value through their knowledge of attributes of grape varieties that offer an alternative to the "classics"; new trends and innovation in the wine industry and understanding of socio-economic factors that have led to the development of newer quality wine regions. , Anyone who wishes to learn the basics about wine, its origins and its characteristics.
