Stained Glass - Introduction

This is a partnership course delivered by Maggie Meadows of Astor Community Theatre. , Maggie Meadows has over twenty years experience of teaching Stained Glass, having run workshops and taught Post 16 students before joining Adult Education. 'I am always amazed at the diversity of students ambitions and the challenges that they set themselves.', Maggie's work can be found on display at the Astor Community Theatre and Burning Bush Gallery in Deal., Explore the basic skills of making stained glass and develop techniques to make a small panel or maybe a suncatcher using copperfoil, the finer work introduced by Louis Tiffany. , You will cover basic skills of cutting and shaping glass and grinder use. Soldering will be covered along with Health and Safety prior to producing your own designs. Templates will be supplied but feel free to use your own designs which will be checked first to ensure they are compatible for working in glass. This day course in Deal at the Astor Theatre is suitable for students of all abilities from the very beginner to those with experience. It is important to note that most craft courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity.
