This one-day workshop at Sevenoaks AEC will introduce you, by way of an overview, to key counselling theories and enable you to practice some basic skills needed when supporting others. The course is an ideal introduction and a good insight into further courses offered at Sevenoaks Adult Education Centre., , By the end of the day students should be able to:, 1) name at least one of the three listening skills., 2) name at least one of the three core values that underpin effective listening, 3) name at least one of the schools of main counselling theory., Anyone interested in self-development and the world of counselling, who needs these skills in their job or in their personal life. No experience is necessary but students must be willing to participate in role play, as we practice basic listening skills which will be set in the context of current counselling theory.
