Why did the Romans want to invade Britain? This is the question this course sets out to answer, and we study evidence from archaeological finds dating from the 1st century BC and written sources (Roman and Greek) as well as using our own common sense to try to understand both the British perspective on the material benefits of the Roman empire, and the Roman view of what they could get out of Britain., , , Students will be able to assess their learning from their notes and handouts, also through discussion, question and answer and tutor feedback. Anyone interested in the early history and life of Kent and in the Roman period.
