Calligraphy - Illuminated Letters

This Calligraphy course based in Broadstairs will be an introduction to the writing beautiful illuminated letters. You will be introduced to fine writing by learning the basics of many different scripts, making lettering come alive using a variety of pens, nib sizes, and covers. , , By the end of the course, you should be able to: hold and use a calligraphy pen correctly, mark up your paper for writing on, write in a word using illuminated lettering, work to relevant Health and Safety guidelines., , There is no set 'homework', but you are welcome to practise and do further work at home., Everybody is welcome.

Entry requirements

Please do not buy anything especially for the course until you have been contacted by the tutor, about a week before the course start date, with advice about what to bring to the first session. You will need a calligraphy type pen, ink (if it's a dipping pen), broad-nibbed felt pens, an HB pencil, a t-square or 12' ruler, your favourite poems/prose/recipes etc., eraser and a pad of inexpensive A3 paper. The tutor will advise on other items as the course progresses.
