This Life Drawing course is a structured course with different drawing and exercises each week throughout the first half of the term, all designed to extend a student's drawing skills, by heightening perception and awareness of the different aspects of life and portrait drawing. Each exercise will be introduced with clear instruction, some demonstration with examples of work from historical and contemporary artists in context with the exercise. Throughout the course students will be encouraged to develop their own styles. There will be a variety of mediums used pencil, charcoal, inks, collage, oil, acrylic and watercolour. By the end of the course you will be able to:, Identify the proportions of the head and facial planes in a drawing, Create a series of sketches based on the anatomical exercises, Develop a series of drawings to be used in a sustained study, Produce an individual piece of work based on drawing exercises, Be aware of and work to relevant Health and Safety guidelines, Students who have completed a Life course, has the equivalent experience or anyone who has an interest in drawing from a life model, It is important to note that art courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity. If you need to bring a carer with you, or be accompanied by another person, please ask to speak with the Programme Manager before you enrol.

However, all students should bring an A4 sketchbook of good quality cartridge paper, preferably with a hard cover and ring bound and a variety of pencils.You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements.
