Drawing and Painting - Beginners

This Art course is designed to teach you the basic techniques to drawing and painting and develop confidence and skills through a range of weekly tutored lessons. , You will explore a range of exciting materials, colour creation, light and shade, as well as artistic styles, applying techniques and tips to landscape, still life and personal projects. Materials you could use within your projects are Watercolour, Oil and Acrylic paints, charcoal, crayons and pastels., This course will be informative, challenging and fun., By the end of the course you will:, Demonstrate an understand the colour wheel and mix colours appropriately in your paintings, Produce a still life drawing of a group of coloured objects, Use at least 4 different materials to produce sketches and drawings, Be aware of and work to relevant Health and Safety guidelines, Absolute beginners or those with a little experience., It is important to note that Art courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity. If you need to bring a carer with you, or be accompanied by another person, please ask to speak with the Programme Manager before you enrol.

Entry requirements

If you are a new student and have no materials please wait for your tutor's advice on what to buy. You should bring an A4 sketchbook of good quality cartridge paper, preferably with a hard cover and ring bound and a variety of pencils.You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. If you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate please bring them with you.
