The course will take 1 year 3/4 days a week (9.00am - 4.30pm). You will need a minimum of 90% attendance throughout the year, in order for you to successfully complete your qualification. This course enables you to obtain an internationally recognised qualification in Beauty Therapy which will allow you to seek employment as a mobile therapist or junior therapist within a commercial salon environment or progress to Level 3 and obtain advanced skills. The Beauty Department at Boston College works in partnership with a prestigious skin care company to deliver unique skin care training in any one of our three fully equipped training salons, which are open as commercial salons to the general public. Commercial salons are run several times a week and will include several evening salon sessions to cater for all. There is also the opportunity throughout the year to work in a varied environment in the community. The course consists of the following topics: Health and Safety; Promoting Services or Products; Working Effectively; Facial Skin Care; Enhance Eyebrows and Lashes; Waxing; Manicure; Pedicure; Make-Up services; Additional study will include the VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Anatomy and Physiology. The course of study will include theoretical and practical sessions, some individual and group assignment work as well as oral questioning, online exams and the production of a portfolio of evidence. Each student will have access to information on study skills and the opportunity to attend support study groups. Average group size is 12 to 18 students.
