This qualification is nationally recognised and prepares you for employment in the hairdressing industry as a junior stylist. The course is based at both Boston College and Boston College Spalding which have fully equipped hairdressing salons that are open to the public. The course is broken down into a number of units which cover a full range of practical hairdressing skills and essential knowledge including: Style and finish hair, Set and dress hair, Cut hair using basic techniques, Colour and lighten hair, shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp, develop and maintain effectiveness at work, advise and consult with client, perm and neutralise hair and cut men's hair using basic techniques. Plus Personal development skills such as: customer care, communication, professionalism, portfolio building and referencing and individual and group work. All learners will also be expected to take part in 1-2 full weeks of work experience. In addition to your course, you will also study either Functional Skills or GCSE English and Maths, dependent on your current GCSE grade.
