BA Hons 3D Design Craft is a practice based design degree that offers digital design and craft skills. It is for people of all ages who enjoy making objects or designing spaces and wish to pursue this as a career. Subjects covered are: Ceramics, Glass, Jewellery, Furniture, Product and Spatial design. In addition you will gain professional skills in digital 3D drawing software, 3D Printing and Laser cutting. Students ideas, making and communication skills are developed through studio and workshop practice, theory lectures and live projects. In the second year students have the opportunity to specialise in three studio subjects and further their skills in the professional practice and business skills needed to work as a professional designer. During this year students are encouraged to take part in design commissions, design shows such as the East London Design Show and undertake a Skill Safari or work placement. There are international study trips that build international design links offered during the year. In the third year students will work to a self-written assignment, using the ideas, skills and materials that have become their strength during the course. Graduating students exhibit both at Havering College and at New Designers in London. This degree has been validated by the Open University. Name: THREE DIMENSIONAL DESIGN CRAFT BA (HONS) (PART TIME) Qualification title: BA (Hons) in Three Dimensional Design Qualification type: Assessment Assessment takes two forms. There is formative assessment and feedback during modules and summative assessment at the end. Modules are marked by two independent assessors and then internally and externally verified. Students are encouraged to undertake self and peer assessment and efforts are made to ensure that the whole process is transparent and accessible. Grade profiles to date have been significantly above the national average. This course can be studied full time or part time.
