This apprenticeship is designed for individuals employed in the hospitality industry such as trainee chefs, who need to develop or consolidate their skills. You are required to take three mandatory units which cover aspects of maintaining a safe, hygienic and secure working environment, working effectively as part of a hospitality team, maintaining knife safety and maintaining food safety within a hospitality environment. You then have a choice of a wide range of optional units covering different kitchen sections. This allows you to tailor the apprenticeship to meet the needs of your work place. In addition to the Diploma in Professional Cookery, you will study the Certificate in Hospitality & Catering Principles (Professional Cookery), employment rights and responsibilities plus personal learning & thinking skills. As part of the Apprenticeship you will also be required to work towards Functional Skills in Maths and English.
