Motor Vehicle Mechanical Repair Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3

UPDATED 20160407 16:48:11

An apprenticeship framework is made up of a number of qualifications aimed at equipping you with the skills which form the basis of a career in the industry. You must achieve all elements to be awarded your apprenticeship. These include a mainly theoretical qualification known as the technical certificate, a mainly practical work-based qualification (formerly the NVQ, now called the VCQ) and functional skills qualifications in the core subjects of English, Maths and IT. The technical certificate which you will study in College combines workshop-based training with the related theory. The practical work includes substantial units in diagnostic fault paths and complex vehicle electronic systems. The theory lessons are important in developing your knowledge and understanding of the technical areas of your work. To achieve the qualification in the workplace, you will show your practical skills by carrying out related tasks. Your on-site assessor will visit you to assess your progress. If you do not already have GSCE English, maths and IT at grade C or above you will have to take Functional Skills qualifications which are a requirement of all apprenticeship programmes.
