Bricklaying Level 1 Diploma

This course is aimed at school leavers and people not already working in the sector and who are considering making a career in Trowel Occupations. The programme includes both classroom and workshop content, with approximately equal emphasis on both forms of learning. Successful completion of this course is one of the entry requirements for progression onto the Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying. It may also facilitate progression onto an Apprenticeship programme. Course Content The following units are all mandatory and provide a good foundation for anyone working in the field of trowel occupations. Teaching will be split between theory and practical: 1. Carry out safe working practices in construction 2. Information, quantities and communicating with others 3. Building methods and construction 4. Carry out basic blocklaying skills 5. Carry out basic bricklaying skills 6. Carry out basic cavity walling 7. Setting out and building basic masonry structures up to damp course level 8. Functional Skills - Mathematics 9. Functional Skills - English 10. Functional Skills - Information & Communication Technology (ICT)
