The course aims to develop and improve pupils' ability to understand key ideas of grammar, lexis, syntax and the like in communication which may be verbal or written. Pupils understand how writers attempt to re-create rhythms of natural speech and dialogue in their literary works as well as developing ability to closely analyse language. Course Fundamentals: • Understanding of technical terminology and application • Understanding how language varies across different text types Ability to read a variety of texts and understand how meaning is created • An understanding of the differences between spoken and written forms of communication.
