Art & Design: Photography provides students with opportunities to develop personal responses to ideas, observations, experiences, environments and cultures in practical, critical and contextual forms. At AS level students are introduced to a variety of experiences employing a range of appropriate media, processes and techniques. At A2 level students should build upon the knowledge, understanding and skills gained at AS with greater depth of study. Course Fundamentals: • Students are given opportunity to explore elements of visual language, line, form, colour, pattern and texture in the context of Photography. • Students develop an ability to respond to an issue, theme, concept or idea or work to a brief or answer a need in Photography. • Students gain an appreciation of viewpoint, composition, depth of field and movement as well as time-based photographic techniques. • Students develop an understanding of the appropriate use of the camera, film, lenses, filters and lighting for work and techniques related to the developing and printing of photographic images, where appropriate, presentation and layout.
