Applique Cushion Making

Looking at the different types of applique, you will create small samples of the different techniques. You will then use your new skills to decorate your own project.You will learn how to; choose appropriate fabrics; use bondaweb to secure fabrics together; create different applique effects using different stitch techniques/fabrics; operate a sewing machine safely; make a sewn craft item, using applique to decorate; use pressing techniques to achieve a quality finish to sewn items. There will be the opportunity to choose a practical project to be completed from a selection offered by the tutor. Projects are chosen to give you the chance to put into practice the skills and knowledge that you will be taught. This course can help you to cut your costs by recycling unwanted textile items and using them to create applique items, making a contribution to a greener environment. This course will also improve your confidence using the sewing machine. The friendly classroom environment is a great place for social interaction and helping you meet new people.This course offers an avenue for creative pursuits, improving your health and well being. This course is for people who have some experience of using a sewing machine. After completing this course you might like to gain further knowledge by completing sewing machine skills 2, or patchwork & quilting.
