The Level 1 Diploma in Performing Arts is a one year full time course, which aims to introduce you to the stimulating world of performing arts, developing a creative perspective and confidence, preparing you for application for entry onto the Level 2 course. This is a lively, innovative course that encourages students in both the creativity and technical aspects of the performing arts industry. Throughout the course you will study a range of disciplines which will introduce you to general dance and performance skills, and the production skills needed in putting on a performance. You will also study functional skills in Maths and English. You will be expected to take part in the creation and performance of several shows that range from a pantomime to an end of year variety show. There is no formal examination but final major projects are marked externally by Edexcel. All other work is assessed internally.
