The variety of subjects at both a theoretical and practical level helps produce multi-skilled graduates able to gain employment within many areas of the animal industry. In addition to providing a solid understanding of applied animal sciences, together with a comprehensive insight into a number of key disciplines crucial to animal management, such as welfare, nutrition, conservation and behaviour, you will also benefit from talks by leading industry organisations. Course Content Year 1: Principles of animal science; Principles of animal husbandry; Concepts in animal behavior; Concepts in animal welfare; Concepts in conservation; Principles of management (land-based). Year 2: Animal health; Exotic collection management; Applied enterprise management; Comparative anatomy adaptations & evolution; Breeding management and genetics; Research skills; Industrial experience; A choice of either: Problem behaviour management; Global biodiversity and conservation issues or Project management. Year 3: Current issues for the animal sciences; Applied animal nutrition; Animal welfare issues; Honours project; A choice of two of the following: Wildlife and habitat conservation; Field biology; Advanced animal behaviour; Behavioural ecology or Geographical information systems for the animal sciences. Successful students may progress onto a related MSc or PhD programme, or into a wide range of management and research posts within the industry.
