Employability course - an Introduction to ICT

UPDATED 20160406 11:49:20

Is this the right course for me? You do not need any knowledge of computers but you will need a desire to find out what it is all about and learn at your own pace. This course will give you a basic understanding of using the computer and Internet safely. Develop skills in Word-processing to produce accurate documents including CVs and cover letters. What will I learn? You have the opportunity to become familiar with the terminology relating to computer hardware and software, mouse and keyboard functions, file management, word processing, the Internet and tips on using your computer (or laptop) effectively. How will I learn? You will learn mainly by using the computer to work on practical tasks with as much support as you need from the tutor; by means of discussions and demonstrations by the tutor. You will receive handouts to help you use your computer between sessions. Will I gain a qualification? You will not gain a formal qualification but you may receive a Certificate of Attendance from your tutor. What can I do next? Depending on your requirements there is progression to English, Maths, Job club, flexible ICT learning, and if your skills are at the appropriate level an ITQ Award at levels 1 and 2. What do I need to bring to the classes? Please bring to class a notepad and pen, plus a folder to keep your work in. Can I talk to someone about my course before I start it? It is usually possible to put you directly in touch with the tutor if a member of the Community Learning MK staff cannot answer your query.
