Is this the right course for me? Yes, if you already have some knowledge of reading tablatures and if you know basic chords (C, D, Dm, D7, E, Em, E7, G, A, Am, A7). You will need your own acoustic guitar and must be prepared to practise at home between sessions. What will I learn? Complex songs including a larger variety of chords and bar chords. Rhythm guitar-strum patterns, arpeggios, finger picking and solo guitar-soloing. Music theory-music notation, scales and various ways to learn new songs. How will I learn? The tutor will explain and demonstrate the techniques for you to practise. There will not be more than ten students in the class, so everyone will be supported individually. Will I gain a qualification? You will not gain a formal qualification but you can request a Certificate of Attendance and Achievement from your tutor. What can I do next? An assessment of each student is taken and a recommendation by the tutor is given on which future course to attend. What should I bring to the classes? For the first session please bring your guitar and plectrums. Can I talk to someone about my course before I start it? It is possible to put you directly in touch with the tutor if a member of the Community Learning MK staff cannot answer your query.
