Italian - Advanced

UPDATED 20160406 11:49:17

Is this the right course for me? This is a good course for anyone who has Italian GCSE (grade A* - B) or AS Italian, or who has acquired spoken Italian through family, travel or work. You may also have completed a Moving on to Advanced course with Community Learning MK. The course would be valuable as extra speaking practice for A-level students. What will I learn? To understand longer listening passages and recognise people's points of view. To answer simple unprepared questions in conversation or following presentation. To understand written longer texts and recognise people's points of view. To write a text (e.g. report or a letter)conveying simple opinions and/or points of view. You will exchange information and views on current issues relating to Italian-speaking countries e.g. work, travel, customs, food, regions, sport. How will I learn? Through vocabulary-building exercises, discussion, worksheets, DVD, film, and listening to CDs. You will also be encouraged to use the Internet to research topics, and to share your ideas and information with other learners. Will I gain a qualification? You will have the opportunity to climb the Languages Ladder by completing an assessment in one or more skills. While the scheme is optional, many learners benefit from having their progress assessed against national standards. Please ask your tutor for more details. What can I do next? You may join a continuation course at this level. What do I need to bring to the classes? Please bring pen and paper. It will be helpful if you will have access to the Internet during the course. If you do not have the facility at home, please ask your tutor about booking into an Community Learning MK Learning Centre. Can I talk to someone about my course before I start it? It is usually possible to put you directly in touch with the tutor if a member of the Community Learning MK staff cannot answer your query.
