Yoga - Beginners & Improvers

UPDATED 20160406 11:49:17

Is this the right course for me? Yes, if you would like to cultivate balance between mind, body and soul. Yoga improves strength, flexibility, overall fitness and physical health at the same time as clearing and calming the mind. You will learn the key yoga postures which are the foundation to all yoga classes as well as the key alignment principles & skills along with the benefits of the poses/group of poses. No experience is necessary and even if you have an existing practice it is always worthwhile re-visiting the basics! What will I learn? You will learn how to move safely in and out of the key yoga postures, how to prepare the body for the postures and the benefits on the physical and emotional body. Use the breath to enable you to get the most from each posture with basic relaxation and meditation techniques. How will I learn? Each session will include postures & exercises that warm up & prepare the body for an apex pose, with demonstrations and verbal cues on how to move safely in and out of the pose and offer counter poses and warming down. Will I gain a qualification? You may not gain a formal qualification but you can receive a Certificate of Attendance and Achievement from your tutor. What can I do next? You may wish to move on to try repeat the course or enrol on an intermediate yoga course and/or try another try form of exercise offered by Community Learning MK. What could I bring to the classes? For the first session please bring if you have them a yoga mat (mats are available at the centre). Comfortable clothes that you are able to move easily in such as leggings, tracksuit bottoms and t-shirt. Please note that jeans and inappropriate clothing is not acceptable. You may wish to have a bottle of water to hand. Can I talk to someone about my course before I start it? It is possible to put you directly in touch with the tutor if a member of the Community Learning MK staff cannot answer your query.
