Cake Decorating - Improvers

UPDATED 20160406 11:49:15

Is this the right course for me? This course is for those who have already completed some royal icing and sugarpaste courses or decorated a lot of cakes at home and want to build on their skills. What will I learn? You will learn many new skills, including how to make exotic wire flowers, stack celebration cakes, cut wonky cakes, use different types of moulds and a sugar shaper / clay gun as well as develop the skills you acquired on the previous courses. How will I learn? There will be demonstrations by the tutor as well as plenty of practical work by the student. Handouts will also be available. Will I gain a qualification? You will not gain a formal qualification but you may receive a Certificate of Attendance and Achievement from your tutor if you request one at the start of the course. What can I do next? Please refer to the current CLMK brochure for other courses in Sugar Flowers and Food Safety or your local colleges may provide qualification courses in cake decorating, you could also look to join the local branch of the British Sugarcraft Guild. What do I need to bring to the classes? During the first lesson the tutor will demonstrate how to stack cakes successfully and run though the course content plus any special tools you will be using. Over the following weeks you will need to bring cakes, icing and other equipment to class to practice with. Please also bring a note book and pen for taking notes, plus a folder for handouts. Can I talk to someone about my course before I start it? It is usually possible to put you directly in touch with the tutor if a member of the CLMK staff cannot answer your query.
