This course will give you the option to try something new. You can acquire traditional techniques to upholster your chosen piece of furniture from an armchair to a headboard or any item of your choice. Also you can learn the skill sets required to create different styles of curtains, cushions, pelmets and blinds with soft furnishing skills. This course is open to everyone whether you are a complete beginner or and advanced upholster wishing to improve and learn new techniques. Your course will cover: removing the old fabric from the project, restructuring the item using traditional tools and materials, recovering the item in a fabric of your choice, choosing a soft furnishing and completing project. Small pinning hammer, scissors, pins and a tape measure. All tools can be borrowed in class; further tools can be bought in class as required. Sewing machines will be used for soft furnishings; learners are welcome to bring their own as numbers are limited. If you require more information please request a call from the tutor. We have other courses that might interest you such as Patchwork & Quilting so please check out our website or look in our latest prospectus.
