Learners will gain a good basic knowledge of the materials and equipment used in drawing and painting. They will develop their drawing and painting skills and will learn different techniques and processes. The course will cover an introduction to the history of drawing and painting.

Drawing & PaintingSuggested basic equipment:Pencils: a good selection e.g. HB, 2B, H plus pencil sharpener or knifeEraser: soft vinyl, putty etc.Other drawing implements: Charcoal or similar, drawing chalks (Sanguine/ Brown/Black/White, dip pen & ink, chalk pastels, etc.Paper: Cartridge, Pastel (mid toned), various other.Paints: Acrylic paints/Watercolours. Student paints are more economical. Suggested basic palette: Red: Cadmium or Vermillion, Crimson Alizarin Yellow: Lemon, Cadmium Blue: Ultramarine, Cobalt or Cerulean Black: Ivory or Lamp or Mars (not for Watercolour) White: Titanium or Zinc (not for Watercolour) Additional colours: Burnt Umber, Raw Sienna.Brushes: Acrylic. A selection of soft and/or bristle in a variety of shapes and sizes. Watercolour. Short handled round in 6, 8, 12, sizes.
