Course shortcode: ELL01 AS and A Level English Language and Literature will equip you with essential reading, analysing and critiquing skills; enabling progression in employment and higher education. Gaining a qualification in English unlocks pathways into many higher education subjects, including English, Journalism, History and many other humanities or teaching degrees. It is also a fantastic subject for employability as you will be able to demonstrate comprehensive communication skills, both verbal and written. You will explore the ways in which writers employ language and literature theories to present their ideas within their texts. You will also explore the different stylistic frameworks authors use to further present their ideas. These newly acquired skills will be used to analyse a range of fiction and non-fiction texts. You will also be given the opportunity to apply your newly learnt analytical skills to your own creative writing.
