The Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Children s Play, Learning and Development (Early Years Educator) is intended as a Tech Level, equivalent in size to three A Levels, which will confer Early Years Educator status, qualifying learners to work directly in the sector. This qualification is for those with an interest in progressing to a career as an Early Years Educator, which is the recommended level of qualification required to undertake such roles as working with children under 8 as a Keyworker or Nursery Assistant in an Early Years Foundation Stage setting or as a Teaching Assistant in a Reception class in Primary school. It is also appropriate for those who wish to progress to higher education to specialise in a related field. It is a 'career gateway' qualification for many other careers within the Children's Workforce, such as Portage Worker, Family Support Worker, SENCO or Children's Holiday Representative. Those who wish to continue into Higher Education will gain UCAS points which will enable them to progress into careers such as Early Years or Primary Teacher, Social Worker, Speech & Language Therapist or Play Therapist among others.
