This course is for school leavers with insufficient GCSEs to register as a Student Veterinary Nurse, for non-qualified Veterinary personnel and for mature learners looking for a career change. It provides an excellent step up to the Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing. Ideal if: you would like to work as a veterinary nurse but do not meet the entry requirements to go straight onto the veterinary nursing advanced apprenticeship. You'll need: to be working in a veterinary practice (paid or as a volunteer).You must also have at least a GCSE grade C in English You'll learn: practical skills and the underpinning knowledge for all aspects of work in an assisting role within the veterinary practice including animal handling and care, assisting with care and administrative duties in the veterinary environment. Expect: to spend one day each week at our Duchy College Rosewarne campus. You'll love: learning about animal nursing hands-on. You'll go onto: employment with a veterinary practice or work elsewhere within the animal industry, progressing to a fulltime course such as the Animal Management City & Guilds Extended Diploma or you may progress onto the veterinary nursing advanced apprenticeship to become a qualified Veterinary Nurse.
