Agriculture City & Guilds (NPTC) Extended Diploma Level 3

UPDATED 20160330 09:10:10

This is a 2 year course (with the option of a 1 year sandwich placement) for those wishing to develop their technical knowledge and gain a better understanding of the management of different agricultural enterprises. It is equivalent to 3 A-levels. Ideal if: you're looking for a practical alternative to A-levels and you want to develop your technical knowledge and gain a better understanding of the management of different agricultural enterprises. You'll need: some knowledge of the agricultural industry together with five GCSEs at grade C or above, including English, mathematics and science, or an equivalent qualification. You'll learn: the theory, science and permitted practical skills associated with farm mechanisation and livestock as well as areas of farm diversification. These will be enhanced and further developed in the second year by study of those practical skills and aspects of farm management. Expect: to gain a wide variety of experience from practical work on the College farm and in association with our industry partners. You'll love: the summer vacation or optional sandwich year which will provide opportunities to gain and broaden practical experiences either at home or abroad. You'll go onto: employment in agriculture or a related industry with future prospects for management or progression to university study such as our Foundation Degree in Agriculture.
