Access courses are designed as a stepping stone to enable motivated, enthusiastic people to progress on to Higher Education. This is ideal for those who want to re-train or re-direct their lives into Leisure and Event management or who want to take a degree in Leisure and Event management related subjects. There is a very high level of academic and personal support throughout the course, which can help if you need to combine study with part-time employment and family commitments. How do you study? You will study a range of units each having the potential to be awarded at level 3 (equivalent to A level). Each unit is worth 3 credits. For successful completion of the Access to HE course you will need a minimum of 60 credits overall. Each unit at level 3 is awarded a pass, merit or distinction. The units that you will study will come from your core subject area; this can be found by clicking on the more info box. Along with your core subject units you will study a range of subjects that build and prepare you for academic study at university level. You may also be given the opportunity to take your Maths or English GCSEs as part of this course if you require them for university entry. How will I be assessed? Assessment will take the form of coursework, presentations or in class assessments depending on the unit you are studying.
