Access courses are designed as a stepping stone to enable motivated, enthusiastic people to progress on to Higher Education. This is ideal for those who want to re-train or re-direct their lives into Social Work, Health Care and Social Care or who want to take a degree in Social Sciences or Health related subjects. There is a very high level of academic and personal support throughout the course, which can help if you need to combine study with part-time employment and family commitments. How do you study? Each unit is worth 3 credits. For successful completion of the access course you will need a minimum of 45 credits at level 3 and 60 credits overall. Each unit at level 3 is awarded a pass, merit or distinction.. Along with your core subject units you will study a range of subjects that build and prepare you for academic study at university level. If you require a higher grade at GCSE English and / or Maths you will be able to study for this alognside your main Access to HE Diploma. Help and support We also support you through the university application process with tutorials. These are designed to offer guidance and support throughout the learning process. We do however recommend checking the entry requirements for your course at your preferred university
