Whilst studying towards this qualification 11 units will be covered, including the following five mandatory units: * Context and principles for early years provision * Promote learning and development in the early years * Promote children's welfare and wellbeing in the early years * Professional practice in early years settings * Support children's speech, language and communication All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods including direct observation within the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or a task set by CACHE*. The learning outcomes for some of the units in this qualification must be assessed in a real working environment. Work Experience Requirement For those students who have no previous experience of working with children and young people, awarding organisations, in partnership with CWDC, recommend 400 hours be spent in a real working environment.
