Care Work: Intro 14/04/16

Course Description: During this course you will be able to establish the values that underpin the role of a care worker. In addition you will learn to understand the roles and responsibilities, the importance of communication, confidentiality and policy and procedures within the role. This is a part-time course, leading to the Open Awards Level 1 Award in Further Learning and Employment. Candidates referred by Job Centre Plus will need to attend a pre-course assessment session. You may be entitled to fully funded provision subject to meeting the following criteria: You are on Jobseekers Allowance, Employment Support Allowance (Work Related Activity Group), OR Are unemployed and on a state benefit (where a monetary grant is paid to you) and you need skills training to enter employment Please bring photographic proof of identity to your first session. If you don't have photographic ID please bring two other forms of identity e.g. Bank card, Bank statement, utility bill, Council tax bill. Attendance at ALL sessions is essential. If you miss a session you may be asked to leave the course. What will I learn? Identify and promote the values involved in Care Work. Promote Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Care Organisations. How to identify the responsibilities and boundaries of the Care Worker's role. Identify examples of abuse and the procedures for reporting these. Identify different forms of communication and its importance in working with people To be aware of the importance of confidentiality in a care setting Understand the organisational policies and procedures and how to implement them in the workplace. The importance of support and supervisory process to care workers.
