A basic introduction to the beauty industry which gives students the opportunity to learn new skills and develop existing ones.The course includes topics such as health and safety, customer care and developing practical skills. Learners will work in our purpose built Hair and Beauty Salon with fully qualified tutors who have real, hands on experience in the industry. Our tutors have worked in the industry for many years and bring all of their experience and skills to the course. The aim is to prepare Bank View students for a more advanced and demanding course when they eventually leave school and ultimately to prepare them for the world of work. The course has proven to be popular with many students at Bank View and has grown in recent years. The course is popular with boys and girls and has many cross curricular links with other subjects, in particular Hairdressing. It also benefits our students from having a practical component where hands on work is extremely beneficial and where academic skills are not as essential as in some other subjects. Students learn all of the basic but essential skills needed in the industry with such success that some of our students have in the past been able to secure part time and weekend jobs through their sound knowledge of the subject.
