The BTEC Level 3 in Engineering offers great flexibility and choice. Pupils can work towards either a Double Award or a Triple) Award by working on and completing six, twelve or eighteen units. The Double Award is broadly equivalent to two GCE A Level and the Triple three. The qualification is accredited onto the National Qualifications Framework. This qualification helps to build a foundation of knowledge in engineering, giving opportunities to gain and develop specific knowledge, understanding and skills relevant to a career in engineering. A BTEC National is structured into mandatory units (which must be studied) and additional optional units. How many units a student completes and which they are will depend on the level of award studied.
