The course consists of two units at AS Level. Unit 1: Portfolio of Creative Skills (60% of AS, 30% of Full GCE). This is an internally assessed piece of coursework. In this unit, students are given the opportunity to develop their creative, technical and practical skills through a series of product investigation, design and manufacturing activities. Unit 2: Design & Technology in Practice (40% of AS, 20% of full GCE). This is a 1hr 30 minute exam sat in June. The exam is a combination of short and extended writing questions. In this unit, students will develop a knowledge and understanding of a wide range of materials and processes used in the field of Design and Technology.
