Edexcel's GCE in Spanish is a two year course which comprises four units, two of which will be studied in the first year and two in the second year of the course. The two units in the first year are: Unit 1: Spoken Expression and Response in Spanish - this accounts for 30% of the total mark awarded at the end of the first year Unit 2: Understanding and Written Response in Spanish - this unit accounts for (70% of the total mark awarded at the end of the first year The total of these marks account for 50% of the total mark awarded at the end of the two year course. The two units studied in the second year are: Unit 3: Understanding and Spoken Response in Spanish - this accounts for 35% of the total marks for the second year Unit 4: Research, Understanding and Written Response in Spanish - this accounts for 65% of the total marks awarded for the second year The total of these marks accounts for 50% of the total mark awarded at the end of the two year course. Throughout the course students' speaking skills will be regularly assessed by the Spanish assistant and it would be beneficial if your child listened to music, television or films in Spanish.
