The aim of A Level History is to develop an interest in the past and to acquire an understanding and sound knowledge of selected periods or themes. Historians develop their awareness of historical concepts, appreciate the nature and diversity of historical sources and methods and grasp a variety of approaches to aspects and periods of history. Students think independently and make informed judgements of issues, cultivating empathy with people in diverse places and at different times. Leading to: A wealth of varied career options such as: Law, Journalism, Politics, Teaching, Accountancy, Management consultancy, Librarian. A huge range of other careers value the critical skills that are required at A Level History. Extra: - Extra reading around the topics is necessary to gain an A*. - Trips to History conferences with keynote speakers will be available. - A possible trip to Germany for the year 13 unit.
