This qualification will enable you to develop the knowledge and skills needed when supporting teaching and learning in the school environment. It is suitable for you if you are working in a role that support pupils' learning including teaching assistants, learning support assistants and special needs assistants. You will need to be working in a school environment as you need to show competence in both knowledge and skills. The course is made up of mandatory and optional units which are based on knowledge and skills: - The Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools; - Functional Skills Qualification in Communication to Level 2, Numeracy to Level 1 and ICT to Level 1; - Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR); - Personal Learning & Thinking Skills (PLTS).

You need to complete units on child development, safeguarding the welfare of children, health and safety, behaviour, relationships and equality, diversity and inclusion.
