The students receive in depth technical training in a range of Contemporary Techniques, developing their physical and performance skills. They develop in the Art form as Choreographers, producing works with an understanding of current practice and the process of Dance Composition. These areas are assessed through practical exams in May, consisting of a Solo unit and a performance in a duo or trio. The theoretical aspects of the AS course give students the opportunity to analyse the form, function and context of dances through the study of five professional works; whilst supporting their development as dancers through physiological and training studies. The students continue to build upon their knowledge through the year in preparation of their written exam unit.
