In this course students will work from life, photographs and will be drawing and painting with a variety of media. We will explore mark making, colour, surfaces and brushes. We will learn about expression, tone, temperature and composition. We will be painting opaquely and transparently, exploring the different strengths of each medium you bring to class, as well as experimenting with your materials and surfaces. During each class we will complete an exercise together and independently, I will give demonstrations and review a new artist. Our aim will be to create our own unique paintings while experimenting with new methods and ways of seeing.
