A Level Biology expands on the principles taught at GCSE and is designed to allow learners to increase their overall knowledge of different topics. Some are covered in more detail, while others use mathematical skills to develop understanding through relevant and appropriate calculations. Core content AS: biological molecules; cells; organisms exchange substances with their environment;genetic information, variation and relationships between organisms. Core content A Level: energy transfers in and between organisms; organisms respond to changes in their internal and external environments; genetics, populations, evolution and ecosystems and the control of gene expression.
