This course requires you to be competent at mathematics in areas such as standard form and rearranging equations. It is a challenging course but if you work hard from the start by reading through notes, reading around the subject and practising questions then you will be successful. Specific entry requirements: Two B grades in GCSE Core and Additional Science or a B grade in Chemistry and one other science. What will I learn? AS Level (one year course) You will study core parts of three areas of Chemistry, namely physical, inorganic and organic. Areas studied include atomic structure and the periodic table, bonding and structure, calculations, energetics and various families of organic compounds. This is a one year course and at the end of it you have two exams. A Level Chemistry (two year course) You study core parts of the three areas of Chemistry, namely physical, inorganic and organic. The content is that of the AS and then further work on areas such as equilibrium, organic chemistry, energetics and redox. This is a two year course and at the end of it you have three exam papers one of which is a synoptic paper which will also test understanding of experimental techniques.
